Kevin Almeida, 42, of Bristol

Kevin Almeida, 42, of San Juan Drive, Bristol, passed away on Jan. 10, 2018, at Newport Hospital.

Born in Providence, he was the son of Manuel Almeida Jr. and Mary Jo (Brum) Almeida. He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Lum and her husband Wayne, and Susan Costa and her husband Mario, grandmother Ema Brum, and nephews Tyler Costa, Logenn Costa, Austin Lum and Brady Lum.

Kevin was a graduate of Mt. Hope High School and worked at Stop & Shop for 22 years.

His funeral services were held Jan. 16 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Richard A. Narciso at St. Elizabeth’s Church. The offertory gifts were presented by Patricia Lum and Susan Costa. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Mario Costa, Miguel Medeiros, Vincent Alexander, Michael Almeida, Chris Almeida and Brian Almeida.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
