'Junkyard' at Imago

Posted

The public is invited to a free reception on Friday, October 11, from 6–8 pm.

Amy Sutherland will present recent figural and abstract ceramic “forms.” Aesthetically they are sculptures that “are born from pots” and thrown on a wheel. No longer utilitarian vessels, the forms are transformed under her hands, when instinct takes over the creative process. Sutherland works with clay because it is “innately linked to creation.” The same simple material can be used by a multitude of people, be fired, and “become something beautiful or ugly.” Sutherland believes as an artist she has an impulse to make, that what is made is how she communicates with the world.

Brittney Ciccone will present recent paintings that convey the “many facets of the human experience,” not only as an artist, but as a “visual storyteller.” Using cool tones, multidimensional artistic style, and abstract themes, Ciccone invites viewers to explore every brush stroke and inspire them “to peer into a new reality.” Ciccone earned a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and pursued a professional pastry degree while working at some iconic bakeries in Boston’s South End. Her fascination with art began at an early age and her “propensity to create” has evolved over time.

Other IMAGO artists who will participate in the exhibit include Eileen Siobhan Collins, Mary Dondero, Carl Keitner, Pascale Lord, Lindsay Mac, Yolanda Mazzoni, Linda Megathlin, Mercedes Nuñez, Anne Marie Rossi, Howard Rotblat-Walker, Lenny Rumpler, Harley Silva, Michael Somers, Amy Sutherland, Juji Watrous, Howard Windham, and Meredith Wolf.
