Mr. Jose F. Medeiros, age 54, of Shaws Lane, Bristol, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, at his home. Born in St. Michael’s, Azores, he was a son of Esmeria (Furtado) Bolota of Bristol and the late Joao Bolota.

A resident of Bristol since 1971, he was a baker for Dunkin' Donuts for over 30 years, retiring several years ago due to illness.

He is survived in addition to his mother by two daughters, Crystal R. Medeiros and Jennifer L. Medeiros, both of Bristol; two grandchildren, Anna L. Medeiros and Xoey H. Traffica; and brother and sisters, Lucy Clark, Johnny Medeiros, Casilda Bolota and Dorothy Jackson, all of Bristol. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Durval R. Medeiros.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, will be Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, at 11 a.m., with a Graveside Service at noon in North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol. Visiting hours will be Wednesday morning only from 9 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a gofundme.com account made by Tony Avila on Tony’s facebook page.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
