Jose Carreiro DeAndrade, 70, Bristol

Jose Carreiro DeAndrade, 70, of Hope Street, passed away on May 10, 2017 at Warren Skilled Nursing Center. 

Born in Villa Franca do Campo, Ribeira Seca, he was the son of the late Jose Filipe and Maria doCarmo (Carreiro) DeAndrade. He was the brother of Gilberto Andrade, Joao Francisco Andrade, Alberto Andrade, George Andrade and the late Mariano Andrade. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as grand nieces and nephews.

Mr. DeAndrade was educated in Portugal and was employed as a machine operator by PF, Miner Industries and East Bay Rubber.

His funeral services were held May 15, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Luis Garcia Dutra at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bristol.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
