John M. Hanson, 74, passed away peacefully at the Rhode Island Veterans’ Home on Monday, January 25, 2021. He was the husband of Connie L. (Heilig) Hanson for 49 years before his passing.
Born in Newport, R.I., he was the son of the late Hazel (Smith) and George Hanson.
John was a graduate of Rogers High School, Class of ’64. After high school, John went on to serve our nation in the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the service, John completed multiple tours of duty in Vietnam.
In addition to his Connie, John also leaves behind his children: John B. Hanson and wife Sharon, Candace L. Davis and husband Stephen; his grandchildren, Julia Hanson and Haley Davis; and his sister, Carole McKiernan.
In death, John is reunited with his parents.
Due to Covid restriction, burial with Military Honors will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Potter League For Animals, 87 Oliphant Lane, Middletown, RI 02842
