John J. Staskiewicz Jr., 65, Tiverton

John “Jack” J. Staskiewicz Jr., 65, of Tiverton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 7, 2020, at St. Anne’s Hospital, Fall River. He was the loving husband of Christine (Dunne) Staskiewicz, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage.

Born in Fall River, he was the son of Grace (Shea) Staskiewicz and the late John J. Staskiewicz, Sr., formerly of Holiday, Florida.

A graduate of Bishop Connolly High School, Class of 1973, he later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Resources from the University of Rhode Island, Class of 1978, where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. Jack was the Environmental Inspector for the City of Fall River for 29 years and for the City of Attleboro for the past year. He was very involved with the Narragansett Council, Massasoit District of the Boy Scouts of America.

In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include two sons, Timothy Staskiewicz of Randolph, Mass., and Daniel Staskiewicz and his fiancée Mariana de Oliveira of Brazil; one daughter, Lauren Church and her husband Benjamin of Swansea; one granddaughter, Violet Church; six brothers-in-law, Joseph, Michael, Peter, Stephen, Patrick and Ted Dunne; his uncle and aunt, Walter and Barbara Staskiewicz, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, his funeral Mass and burial will be held at a later time.

Arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, Fall River.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
