John Edward Reynolds Jr., 68, of Wood Street passed away on Jan. 9, 2019, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Sharon (Josephs) Reynolds. 

Born in West Warwick, he was the son of the late John and Elsie (Dorothy) Reynolds. In addition to his wife Sharon, he is survived by his daughter Kelly Medeiros and her husband Luis; grandson Jared Medeiros; sister Joann Thornber and her husband Keith; uncle Earl Branch and his wife Suzanne; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Willis Reynolds.

Mr. Reynolds was a graduate of Coventry High School and served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He received a Masters of Education degree from Rhode Island College and was a teacher for the Bristol School Department as well as the Bristol Warren Regional School District before retiring.

He was dedicated to his family, enjoyed vacationing and playing golf. His most important role was as a coach for his grandson.

His funeral services were held Jan. 15 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by the Rev. Barry Gamache at St. Mary’s Church. Liturgical readings were by Frank Chauvette and Terry Read. The Prayer of Faithful was read by Michaela Nisbit, and the offertory gifts were presented by Kelly Medeiros and Jared Medeiros.

Soloists were Abby Ferreira, Ryan Falcoa and Tyler Falcoa. The eulogy was given by Earl Branch.

Burial followed in North Burial Ground. Serving as pallbearers were Rob West, Gilbert Almeida, Keith Thornber, Armando Ferreira, Frank Chauvette and Earl Branch.
