Drivers should expect delays

The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA) announced that an inspection of the Mount Hope Bridge will begin on Oct. 28 and is expected to continue through Nov. 11, daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this time, traffic will be reduced to one, alternating lane. Drivers are advised to expect delays.

"We recognize the upcoming two-week bridge inspection will cause delays, and we apologize for the inconvenience this poses to residents," said Lori Caron Silveira, Executive Director of RITBA. "Safety is always our top priority, and routine inspections like these are essential to maintaining the bridge's integrity and ensuring it remains reliable for all who use it. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we carry out this necessary work."
