St. Luke’s School fund-raiser draws another big crowd

More than 600 people, including one dressed as a turkey, competed in the 24th annual Trot Off Your Turkey 5K and 1.5-mile races on Saturday, Nov. 25. 

The event, which serves as a fund-raiser for St. Luke’s School, filled many streets in West Barrington with runners on Saturday morning.

The 5K started on Washington Road near the intersection with Brook Street and traveled along Lincoln Avenue, Middle Highway, the East Bay Bike Path, North Lake Drive, before finishing up Washington Road at St. Luke’s School.

There was a 1.5-mile race course as well. 

Top finishers

Trevor Wysong, a 26-year-old from Taunton, Mass., captured top honors at the 24th annual Trot Off Your Turkey 5K. Wysong finished the 3.1-mile course in 15:10.1, which was 35 seconds ahead of Barrington’s Eliot Laidlaw. Barrington High School senior Brandon Piedade finished third overall with a time of 16:12.4.

Brett Ely was the race’s top female finisher. Ely crossed the finish line 13th overall with a time of 18:54.2. Erica Knight was the second female finisher. She crossed the line in 14th overall with a time of 18:57.1. Linda Spooner was the third place overall female finisher. She was 17th overall with a time of 19:19.1.
