Horacia Cabral, 90, Bristol

Horacio “Horace” Cabral, 90, of San Francisco Avenue, passed away on April 11, 2017 in Oranjestad, Aruba. He was the husband of the late Delia (Medeiros) Cabral.  

Born in Seekonk, Mass., he was the son of the late Frank and Elvira (Costa) Cabral. He was the father of Deborah Goulart and Horace Cabral Jr., and grandfather of Joshua Goulart and Jenna Goulart. He was the brother of Archie Cabral and the late Mary Leandre Farias, Gil Cabral and Joseph Cabral. 

Mr. Cabral owned and operated a backhoe service for many years before retiring, and enjoyed traveling throughout his life.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service, Friday, June 9, 12:30 p.m., at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
