'Honor flight' for Tiverton veteran

Posted

Navy veteran Frank Rodrigues of Tiverton was given a rare honor recently, when he was honored in Washington DC as part of ‘honor flights’ by the RI250 Committee.

The flights recognize veterans for their service and sacrifice, and Rodrigues has a long history of service.

Long a volunteer with HopeHealth, a non-profit hospice and palliative care provider  out of Providence, he participates in veteran pinning ceremonies and plays Santa for HopeHealth “PediPal” children. He was flown to DC Saturday, May 2 and was welcomed back home that evening. While in DC, he visited several DC military monuments and memorials. He’s shown here second from left with (from left) HopeHealth volunteer manager Diane Taveira, Honor Flight Association representative Ashley Tosta, and Hope Health clinical outreach services director Deanna Upchurch.
