PORTSMOUTH — Catherine Holtman, who was elected to the School Committee in 2018, is resigning from the board effective Sept. 1.
The committee accepted her resignation Tuesday night with a “heavy heart,” Committee Chairwoman Emily Copeland said.
Ms. Holtman shared her reasons for stepping down in an e-mail to The Portsmouth Times:
“Due to the challenges the pandemic presented this past spring with my husband and I juggling work along with having two young children at home, and the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming year due to COVID-19 (I'm optimistic we will open, but have concerns around daycare/school closures and a second wave, etc.), I have decided at this time to resign and focus on the immediate needs of my children and work.”
