Hilda (Tavares) Raposa, 88, of Bristol, died Sunday, July 2, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Manor, Bristol. She was the wife of the late Augusto Raposa.

Hilda was born in St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal, a daughter of the late Manuel and Maria ( Arruda) Tavares. She was a homemaker, and a Warren resident for more than 50 years, coming from St. Miguel, before moving to Bristol.

Mrs. Raposa was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Bristol, was a former Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, and was a member of the Warren Senior Citizens. Mrs. Raposa enjoyed spending time with her family and crocheting.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Whitmore and her husband Harvey of Warren. She was the sister of Rose Albernaz of Swansea, Mass. Mrs. Raposa was the grandmother of Melissa Mitchell and her husband Doug of Bristol, Christopher Whitmore, and Nicholas Whitmore, both of Warren. She was the great-grandmother of Dylan Mitchell and Kellsie Mitchell, both of Bristol. Mrs. Raposa was the sister of the late Manuel, Joseph, John and Edward Arruda, Guilhermina Toti, Belmira “Bella” DaSilva and Clotilde Marques.

She was the mother of the late Terry Medeiros.

Her funeral will be held Saturday July, 8 2017, 8:30 a.m., from Smith Funeral and Memorial Service, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11m a.m. in St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main St., Warren. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.
