Hilda (Ferreira) Melanson, 89, of Tiverton, passed away June 18, 2020, peacefully at home.

She was the loving wife of the late James A. Melanson, Jr. to whom she had been married for 54 years before his passing.

Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Francisco J. and Marie da Luz (Correira) Ferreira.

Mrs. Melanson was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church where she was a CCD teacher and had volunteered with CD SPRED.

She had worked as Lead Cook with the State of Rhode Island Public Schools prior to her retirement. She had been a Den Mother with the Boy Scouts of America and had received the Roundtable/Huddle Staff Training Award.

Survivors include her children, James F. Melanson of Tiverton, Nancy Lee Pimentel of Tiverton and Patricia Lee Eppley of Somerset; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Tony Ferreira, Michael Ferreira, Joseph Ferreira, Frank Ferreira, Louis Ferreira and Olivia Ferreira.
