Herman F. 'Craig' Christ, 98, of Barrington

Herman F. "Craig" Christ, 98, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020. Craig, as he was known to many, was a lifelong resident of Barrington. He graduated from Barrington High School in 1940 and was a World War II veteran serving in the Navy. He was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Beverly Ann. He is survived by his three loving children; Heidi Colella and her husband Peter, Peter and his wife Linda, Eric and his wife Holly. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Annie Colella, Martha Colella (Brendan Prior), Katie Christ, and Rebecca Christ. Survived as well by sister, Paula Dalton, predeceased by his sister Doris Mann. Services and burial will be private. Craig spent a great deal of his life around Narragansett Bay and in lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Save the Bay to honor his memory.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
