BRISTOL — The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced that Lisa Sienkiewicz and Gail Parella — owners of Gil’s Appliances — have been selected to receive the Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Small Business of the Year.

Opened in 1961, Gil’s Appliances is a family-owned and operated retailer with locations in Bristol and Middletown. Co-owners and sisters, Lisa and Gail, sell home appliances to customers all over Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

“I would like to congratulate Gil’s Appliances and their co-owners, Lisa Sienkiewicz and Gail Parella, on their selection as the Rhode Island Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Small Business of the Year,” said Mark S. Hayward, SBA Rhode Island District Director. “Gil’s is a Rhode Island institution and a great example of the incredible family-owned small businesses the Ocean State produces.”

The Jeffrey Butland Family-Owned Small Business of the Year award is open to any small business that is family-owned and operated, with a 15-year track record that has been passed on from at least one generation to another.

The 2018 Rhode Island Small Business Awards will be held at Kirkbrae Country Club, 197 Old River Road, Lincoln, RI 02865 on May 11, and will honor all Rhode Island awardees and their exceptional small business accomplishments.
