Clap your hands. Scream into the sky. Bang some pots and pans.

Residents are asked to do whatever they can to make noise and cheer for their neighbors who are working hard to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Barrington resident Liz Henderson said the special cheering event will take place Wednesday night, April 1 at 8 p.m.

"We are trying to organize a night, like so many other communities, when we open our doors, cheer loud, clap hands, bang pots and pans, so that our neighbors on the frontline can hear our appreciation," Ms. Henderson said.

Ms. Henderson said she borrowed the idea from some friends in the United Kingdom who organized a similar effort to support National Health Service workers recently. She said a similar event was also held in Chicago recently.

Ms. Henderson contacted town officials to alert them to the upcoming cheer.
