EAST PROVIDENCE — A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new public pier on the grounds of the Kettle Point development was held Thursday morning, May 27.

A number of state and local officials as well as members of the public gathered for the event.

The 600-foot pier was part of 2.5 acres of coastal property deeded back to the city as part of its agreement with Churchill & Banks, which was represented at the ceremony by CEO Richard Baccari II.

The location will soon undergo a landscape design review, City Planning Director and Waterfront Commission chairman Bill Fazioli said at a recent meeting of the body, to determine how best to improve the aesthetics of the area.
