Frances Coury, 93, Barrington

Frances Coury, 93, of Roffee Street, Barrington, died peacefully on Nov. 10, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Fred P. Coury Sr. They were married for 60 years.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Andrew and Maria (Ferrara) Abate, she lived in Barrington for 65 years.

Mrs. Coury was a communicant of Holy Angels Church. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family. Her home was the gathering place of cherished memories for family and friends for over 60 years of Sunday dinners, birthdays and holidays.

She is survived by her children, Fred P. Coury Jr. and his wife Deborah of Warren, Debby Maillozzi and her companion Paul Morelli of Barrington, and Kenneth S. Coury and his wife Adriana of Barrington; a great-granddaughter, Shenelle Teixeira, who lived with her; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late John and Dan Coury and sister of the late Anna Dallaire, Grace Proulx, Rose Andreozzi, Ralph F., Charles, Salvatore and Frank Abate.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021, from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Ave., Riverside.  Burial followed in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Road, Barrington.  For online condolences please visit wrwatsonfuneralhome.com.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
