Flora Helen (Delmage) Sousa, 88, of Bristol, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Manor. She was the wife of Norman Jeffery Sousa.   

Born in Waltham, Mass., she was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Perrine) Delmage. She leaves behind her children, Sandra Massa and her husband Charles, Brian Sousa and his wife Diane, John Sousa and his wife Joanne, and Cindy Coyle and her husband Bill. She was the grandmother of Maggie Gramling, Gina Tetrault, Jennifer Fortune, Randy Sousa, John Sousa, Billy Coyle, Sasha Coyle and Jimmy Coyle, and the great-grandmother of Joshua Grambling, Ella Fortune and Cory George. She was the sister of William Delmage and the late George Delmage.

Mrs. Sousa attended school in Warren and was employed by Converse as well as Aspects Inc. of Warren, a job she really loved up until the time she retired. She was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Manor for 16 years, where she was known as the “Bird Lady.” She was a past member of Bristol Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary who loved crocheting, playing bingo and her cats and bird.

Her funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 30, from the George Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Barry Gamache at St. Mary’s Church. Liturgical readings were by Jennifer Sousa and Joy Ryan.

The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Karen Irons.  The offertory gifts were presented by Sasha Coyle and Scott Ramsey. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Coyle, Jim Coyle, Randy Sousa, Steve Irons, Chris Fortune, Mark Tetrault, Rick George and Frank Aquino.
