Flora Church Stewart passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021. She was 82. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, she was raised in Vancouver and Montreal. Flora attended Kings Hall in Compton Quebec and McGill University. After making her debut at the St. Andrews Ball at the Windsor Hotel in Montreal, Canada, she met David A. Stewart in New York City. They married at the Ritz Carlton in Montreal in 1962. The couple settled in Barrington, where they lived until David’s death in 2018. While in Barrington, they raised two daughters and Flora was an active volunteer. The family attended St. John’s Episcopal Church in Barrington, where Flora was a member of the Flower Guild. She was also a member of the Junior League of Providence.

Flora enjoyed multiple hobbies, including flower arranging, gardening and entertaining friends with her husband at the New York Yacht Club in Newport, Rhode Island.

Flora was predeceased by her younger brother John William Church of Brockville, Ontario, her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Stewart Gibbs and Sarah Lockett Stewart, grandchildren, Flora MacPherson Gibbs of Arlington, Washington and Daniel Robert Gibbs of East Providence.
