Firepits and tasty treats at Blithewold this weekend

Blithewold is hosting "Cozy Autumn Fires and Tasty Treats” both Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 11 and 12. Blithewold provides chairs, s’mores kits, a well-stocked state-of-the-art low-smoke fire pit, and a spectacular view of the Giant Sequoia in the sheltered Enclosed Garden. All you need to do is gather five friends and six marshmallow-roasting sticks. While you’re there, take a hike around the grounds.

Maximum of 6 people per fire pit reservation. Children 2 and under can sit on laps and don’t add to the maximum number in your group. This is a “take out what you take in” activity.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
