EAST PROVIDENCE — Rain washed away the traditional Memorial Day Parade presented by Riverside American Legion Post 10, but that was not the only event tied to the holiday honoring the memories of those who have and continue to protect the nation.

On Friday, May 27, the Evergreen House Nursing and Rehabilitation in conjunction with O'Hara Senior Care Services hosted a "Salute to Veterans" Memorial Day concert.

Calling it a "dignified and patriot event," the afternoon featured a heartwarming display of over 300 American flags on the front lawn of the center and the music of "Of thee We Sing America." All veterans and surviving spouses of veterans were invited to attend the free event.
