PROVIDENCE — The East Providence High School girls’ indoor track team had mixed results following a pair of Sullivan Division regular season meets held over the last week at the Providence Career and Tech Academy Fieldhouse.

On January 12, the Townies won two of three decisions, beating Hope 65-21 and Mt. Pleasant 63-16, but losing to North Smithfield 63-45

Nazarae Phillip won both the 55 and 300 meter dash events, the former in a time of 7.57 seconds and the latter in 44.97. Teammate Kandace Daniel was third in the 300 in 46.28.

The duo was part of the winning 4x200 relay, running legs along with Kendra Daniel and Samantha Clarke to finish in a time of 1:52.57.

In addition, Clarke was a member of the runner-up 4x4 team with Gladys Barrera, Giselle Raphael and Angelina Tavares that ran a 4:44.89 to the winning time of 4:34.16 clocked by Moses Brown.

Earlier this week, on the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday Monday, Jan. 16, the Townies dropped a pair of close Sullivan decisions, 44-40 to Chariho and 52-47 to Lincoln High.

The same quartet of Daniel, Phillip, Clarke and Raphael won the 4x2 against the Chargers and Lions in a time of 1:52.2.

Phillip once again took the 55 dash in 7.64. The sophomore standout, however, clocked the second fastest time in the 300 for the overall meet running a 45.38 to the 41.03 of Moses Brown superstar Sophia Gorriaran. Daniel was fifth in the 55 with a 7.96 and fourth in the 300 with a 46.24.

In the 4x4 relay, Clarke, Barrera and Raphael were joined by Adriana Perry in running second with a 4:40.47 to the winning time of 4:09.21 posted by Moses Brown.
