EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Waterfront Commission has approved the application of Kettle Point Apartments, LLC to modify the last phase of its development off Veterans Memorial Parkway, which will consist of 12 town homes in two buildings that overlook Squantum Woods. The action took place during a virtual meeting held by the body on April 16.
Construction at Kettle Point is currently in progress at Building 5, a 41-unit apartment building that is the last of five, four-story Class A apartments. Units in both the town homes and the apartment building include one, two- and three-bedroom layouts.
Jason Kambitsis, senior vice president of Acquisitions and Development for Pennsylvania-based A.R. Building Co. Inc., said when the current phase is completed over the next several months, crews are expected to continue with construction of the new $2.4 million town homes. Construction of the town homes should take between 8 to 10 months with an anticipated completion date of March 2021.
Work on the entire Kettle Point mixed-use development began in 2015. Total property taxes derived from the property prior to construction amounted to just $69,000 as compared to more than $1.1 million in 2019.
The project is also expected to provide several public amenities including a new extension of the Urban Coastal Greenway walking path, an expanded parking lot for the East Bay Bike Path and a renovated 600-foot pier extending out to Narragansett Bay.
