Emily S. (Fortuna) Polak, 91, of Warren, passed peacefully on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at the Grace Barker Nursing Home, surrounded by loving family and friends. She was the beloved wife of Frederick W. Polak.

Emily was born in Fall River, MA, a daughter of the late Peter and Katarzyna (Szustkiewicz) Fortuna.

A graduate of the Dominican Academy and Thibodeau Business School, Emily worked for the U.S. Department of the Navy and Brown & Sharpe before raising her family.

A Warren resident for 68 years, she was a communicant of the former St. Casimir Church and was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. While at St. Casimir, she was a lector and served as President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Rosary Society.

Emily leaves her children, Steven M. of Dallas, Texas, Matthew J. of Warren, Thomas E. (Kathryn A. Gianello) of Hudson, N.H., and Kathryn A. of Canton, MA. She was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters, and leaves behind many loving relatives.

A devoted wife and mother, Emily cherished spending time with her family and friends.

A private Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, May 28 in St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Warren. Burial followed in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery. Gifts in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105, or www.stjude.org.
