Emilien G. Desmarais, 76, of Bristol

Emilien G. Desmarais, 76, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Judith F. (Durco) Desmarais for 25 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Emilien and Madeline (Surgento) Desmarais.

Emilien was employed as a mortgage broker for Eastside Financial for many years before retiring. He also worked as a car salesman for Norwood Chevrolet. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Emilien was a member of the Over the Hill Motorcycle Club in Warren for 40 years, and the former Senior Vice Commander of the Disabled Veterans Post #9. His name is also on a plaque at the VFW Post #237 in Bristol.

Emilien was the beloved father of David J. Desmarais, Scott C. Desmarais, and Jacob M. Desmarais; brother of Noel Desmarais, Laura Lamontagne, and Julie Lowe; grandfather of David, and Ashley, and great-grandfather of Lucas.

A chapel service with military honors will be held Monday, Dec. 23, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the RI Veterans’ Cemetery Chapel, South County Trail, Exeter. Please arrive at the cemetery parking area at 10:45 a.m. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
