Eleanor R. (Mendoza) Murphy, 80, of South Dennis, Ma., died Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

She was born in Warren, a daughter of the late Joseph and Molly (Medici) Mendoza.

She worked in the National Training and Development Department for the National YMCA for over 30 years before retiring.

Eleanor had lived in South Dennis for over 20 years, coming from Montclair, N.J. She was a member of the YMCA Retirement Board and the Red Hat Society.

She was an avid tennis player, who enjoyed traveling and reading.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Leesa Vargas of Bristol; her brother Richard Mendoza of Warren; her sisters Marion Nencka and Rosann Roderick, both of Warren; and her sister-in-law, Sheryle Mendoza. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews and was the significant other of the late Warren G. Symonds.

Eleanor was the sister of the late William Mendoza, Joseph Mendoza and James Mendoza.

A Graveside service will be held Saturday, March 28, at 11 am in the South Burial Ground, Sowamset Avenue, Warren.

Visiting hours are Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30 am in Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. The funeral home will be following all of the State and Health Department regulations.
