Eileen Claire (Grimm) Tonne, 94, of Portsmouth, passed away on May 19, 2019, at Sakonnet Bay Manor in Tiverton. She was the wife of Laurence Tonne of Portsmouth.
Eileen was born in New York, NY, to John Grimm and Agnes (Mangieletto) Grimm. She grew up in New York and worked as a secretary in N.Y.C. until she married Laurence Tonne on January 25, 1947. They raised their daughter in Long Island, and later spent many years of retirement in Palm Bay, Florida. For the last 15 years they have enjoyed life in Rhode Island, closer to their daughter and grandchildren.
Eileen is survived by her husband of 72 years, Laurence Tonne; her daughter, Patricia Killeavy of Bristol; and her grandchildren, Trisha, Bridget, Erin, Sean and Colleen. She also leaves a sister Dorothy Lucey of Malibu, California, and her nieces, Dorothy, Maureen and Lorraine.
A graveside services will be held on Friday, May 24, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.
