Mr. Edward Stanzione, Sr., age 77, of Wheeler Avenue, Bristol, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Diane M. (Drinning) Stanzione, his wife of 58 years.   

Born in Fall River, Mass., and raised in Bristol and a lifelong resident, he was a son of the late Louis and Sylvena (Pereira) Stanzione. A member of the Teamsters Union, he worked at the NE Petroleum Terminal in Tiverton, R.I.; and was a former truck driver for Royal Fuel Company in Bristol for over 20 years, retiring in 2001. During his retirement, he worked part-time for Steve’s Transmission, also in Bristol.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves in Bristol for 20 years. Edward was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a longtime member of the Cup Defenders Association in Bristol. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Edward Stanzione, Jr. (Cara Balzano), Louis Stanzione and Dawn M. Pemental (John Ceraceno), all of Bristol; three grandchildren, Anthony Pemental, Nicholas Stanzione and Tonya Pemental; a great-granddaughter, Giovanna Rose Pemental; and a sister, Rose Marie Sabatini of Pawtucket. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Stanzione, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
