East Providence woman dies in motor vehicle accident

Pedestrian was struck crossing Warren Avenue

EAST PROVIDENCE — An East Providence woman was struck and killed in an accident in the early morning hours Sunday, July 14.

Jennifer Cabral, 38, of 27 Lyon Ave. East Providence was struck by a pickup truck while crossing Warren Avenue on foot.

Ms. Cabral was treated at the scene by the East Providence Fire Department and transported to Rhode Island Hospital. Ms. Cabral died several hours later from the injuries she sustained in the crash.

The East Providence Police Department is investigating the accident that occurred at approximately 12:20 a.m. The crash occurred on Warren Avenue, just west of its intersection with Broadway.

The operator remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. The pickup truck also remained at the scene.

Speed and alcohol on the part of the pickup truck operator are not suspected. The crash is being investigated by the East Providence Police Traffic Unit.
