Members of the East Providence Police Department are actively investigating a shooting that occurred at the Hull Street playground.

Officers responded to the playground just after 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, afternoon following a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival a bullet casing was found in the parking lot.

A short time later, investigators were advised that Providence Police were on Benefit Street in capital city with a male suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. That male was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment and is listed in stable condition.

Officers believe that the injured party is the same individual involved in the East Providence incident.

EPPD officers determined there was no further threat to the public at the time of the incident.

Detectives are investigating the shooting. The victim’s identity was not released when the initial report was made public.
