PROVIDENCE — Multiple media outlets earlier Monday, Sept. 9, reported an East Providence man and a fan of the NFL’s New York Giants became so enraged by the signing of controversial wide receiver Antonio Brown by the New England Patriots he made a serious enough threat on social media to be apprehended by local law enforcement.

Tobias Gray was arrested at his home in city Sunday, Sept. 8, and appeared in a Providence courtroom wearing full Giants apparel on Monday where he faced charges on an unrelated domestic assault charge for an incident that occurred in East Providence. In addition, the Town of Foxboro, where the Patriots are headquartered, has charged Mr. Gray with making “terroristic threats.”

Mr. Gray allegedly made the following post on Facebook over the weekend: “I’m going to pull a white boys school shooting at Foxboro you might as well hand them the ring right now I’m if I ever get my hands on a gun which I don’t have one yet but I’m looking I will go shoot up random people at Foxboro.”

According to reports the post was deleted. His legal representative said Mr. Gray was just upset and the Patriots’ signing of Brown and only made the post in jest.

As for his appearance in court Monday, Mr. Gray has been remanded in custody if and/or until charges of being a fugitive of justice complaint stemming the from the Facebook post in Massachusetts is resolved.
