EAST PROVIDENCE — In the wake of a threat made to the East Providence High School building Thursday morning, March 29, Superintendent Kathryn Crowley issued the following statement later in the day once the premisses was declared safe:
"This morning there was a bomb threat called into East Providence High School. Out of an abundance of caution we evacuated all students and staff.
"The East Providence Police Department, Fire Department, and multiple state and federal agencies responded immediately. A unified command center was set up with all agencies and all safety protocols were followed.
"A thorough search of both the High School and the Career Tech Center was completed. The buildings were deemed safe.
"We want to extend a special thank you to the East Providence Police and Fire Departments as well as all state and federal agencies and school staff for their professional response.
"We want to thank all students for their cooperation and model behavior during this evacuation process. We would also like to thank parents for their understanding and patience.
"Finally, we would like to thank Governor Raimondo’s office and Dr. Ken Wagner, the Commissioner of Education for their offers of help."
