East Providence City Hall opens for early voting on Halloween

Canvassing notes two polling places changes

EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Canvassing Office announced the early polling place at City Hall will be open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, to accommodate what has been a hight turnout of those seeking to cast their ballot prior to the November 3 election date.

The move was made possible in part because of a a $25,000 Center for Tech and Civic Life grant recently awarded to the Canvassing Office to assist with the 2020 election. City Hall is also open for full ballot, in-person early voting on Monday, Nov. 2, until 4 p.m.

As of the start of business on Friday, Oct. 30, 5,905 residents had voted early in East Providence. In addition, the Board of Elections had received nearly 7,000 mail-in ballots from city voters. 

Canvassing as well reminded of changes to two polling locations announced earlier in the week.

Voters who usually vote at East Providence High School will do so Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the East Providence Senior Center, 610 Waterman Ave. Recent flooding and electrical issues at EPHS forced the move.

In addition, residents who usually vote at Rumford Towers will cast their ballots at Orlo Avenue Elementary School, 25 Orlo Ave., due to COVID-19 restrictions.
