Townies pick up first wins of 2019 season

EAST PROVIDENCE — The EPHS girls’ volleyball team stopped a five-match losing streak at the start of its Division I season, winning twice to close this week. The Townies swept both outings, beating Ponaganset by the scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-23 and Prout by the scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-21.

Emma Tellier led the locals against the Chieftains with eight kills, two blocks and two service aces. She added seven kills, three blocks and two more aces in the win of the Crusaders. Setter Paige Messier has 20 digs and five aces as well in the win over Prout. The Townies improved to 2-5 at the time.
