Quinn Murphy belted a three-run homer in the first inning as Barrington swept its season series from Mount St. Charles by coasting to an 18-2 victory on Tuesday, May 21.

The Eagles (15-3) finished the regular season with a nine-game winning streak and annexed their sub-division title with a 6-0 record.

Murphy’s blast, his fourth of the season, cleared the 365-foot sign in center at Renaud Field. He also singled, doubled and drove in four runs.

Gabe Tanous was 2-for-2 with four runs scored and two RBI while Luke Tanous was 2-for-3 with two RBI. In addition, Aimon Bickford doubled for the second consecutive game.

Winning pitcher Alex Anderson tossed four innings of three-hit, no-run ball replete with no walks and three strikeouts. He allowed two singles in the second and one in the fourth.

Barrington scored four runs in the first inning and broke the game open in the fifth when it batted around and scored nine runs.

The Eagles will draw a first-round bye in the upcoming Division II Tournament and could host a second-round game early next week.

Eagles 5, Mounties 0

Murphy singled, doubled, tripled and drove in one run as Barrington (14-3) recorded its eighth consecutive victory, defeating Mount St. Charles 5-0 on Monday, May 20. Barrington was celebrating its Senior Day. 

Fin Thomson doubled and tripled for the Eagles while Gabe Tanous tripled and Ben Nowinski added his first hit of the season, an RBI double. Aimon Bickford had an RBI double and scored a run. 

Ted Coon earned the save by pitching three innings of hitless, scoreless baseball in relief of Connor Marley, who only allowed five singles in four innings of work. 

Eagles 14, Mariners 1

On Sunday, May 19, Barrington defeated Narragansett 14-1. Murphy belted a pair of doubles and drove in two runs. Trevor Snow was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI and Tanous also went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Thomson hit a two-run double while Chris Promades had 2 RBI on a single and a bases-loaded walk. Barrington broke the game open with a nine-run second inning.

Eagles 6, Mariners 0

Murphy and Miles Fontaine each blasted three hits as the Barrington High School baseball team blanked Narragansett, 6-0, in a Division II game on Tuesday, May 14.

Murphy was 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and two stolen bases, while Fontaine was 3-for-3 with one RBI and two stolen bases. Grant Culton and Thomson each added RBI singles.

Jack Lawson pitched six innings of two-hit baseball for the Eagles, who improved to 12-3. Lawson only allowed singles in the first inning and the third and, only allowed one Mariner to advance as far as third base. He walked three and struck out eight. On the season, Lawson has fanned 52 batters in 44 innings and has a 5-2 record.

Coon pitched in relief in the seventh inning and struck out two of the three batters he faced.
