Eagle Cruise on the Connecticut River

Join Audubon for a winter trip on the Connecticut River to search for eagles, hawks, waterfowl, seals and other mammals. Binoculars will be available, as well as complimentary tea and coffee. The boat has a heated cabin, but dress very warmly as the best views are from the deck. After the tour, visit to the Connecticut River Museum and enjoy the Eagles of Essex exhibit. Bring a lunch, camera and optics. Children must be at least 12 years to register.

WHERE: Van departs from Powder Mill Ledges Refuge, 12 Sanderson Rd. Smithfield
WHEN: Saturday, Feb. 16; 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
COST: $70/member; $80 non-member

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
