Dr. Robert G. Brayton, 85, of New York, NY, passed away after a lengthy illness, Tuesday, March 8, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife and daughter. His son John S. Brayton V predeceased him in 1982.
While at Williams College, Robert met his wife Donna O’Hare, and they married in 1954. He graduated from Cornell University Medical College in 1958. Dr. Brayton and his wife were physicians in New York City until they retired in 1998. He was on faculty at Cornell University Medical College, known for his passion for internal medicine, infectious disease, and teaching until his retirement, and he was the Medical Director of Irving Trust Bank, and then Bank of New York.
He had long standing interests in American art and antiques, and in wildlife and land conservation. He painted, carved, repaired furniture, and did taxidermy. He was active in the Physicians Scientific Society, New York County Medical Society, the Medical Strollers, and the Grenfell Foundation.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna O’Hare Brayton, MD, and his daughter Cory Brayton, DVM, of Baltimore, Md..
