Doris L. Shea, 77, Little Compton

Doris L. Shea, 77, of Little Compton, passed away on December 23, 2019.  Born in Patterson, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Doris L. (Laprade) and James N. Shea.

Doris was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and Providence College.  She had a Doctorate in Psychology and had worked for the Warren School System for over 30 years as a School Psychologist.  

She was a member of Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton.  

She is survived by two sons, Devin Skelly of Portsmouth, and David Sean Skelly of Attelboro.  She also leaves her grandchildren, Ryan J. Skelly and Carson A Skelly, both of Portsmouth.  In addition, she leaves a sister, Kathleen Kemler of Needham.  

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home, 462 Main Road, Tiverton, at 9:30 am, with Mass at 10:30 am at Holy Ghost Church.  Burial to follow at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
