Doris B. Benevides, 101, of Bristol

Doris B. (Crabtree) Benevides, 101, of Bristol, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, at Hope Hospice in Providence.

She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Benevides.

Doris was born in Providence, a daughter of the late Albert and Adelaide (Simas) Crabtree.

She was a factory worker for many years for the former Converse Rubber Company.

She lived in Bristol for more than 80 years, coming from Pawtucket.

Mrs. Benevides was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Church and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality at the church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and reading. She also liked to take long walks.

Doris is survived by her children, Joseph Benevides (Susan), Carl Benevides, (Amy) Monica Chartier  (Richard) and Cynthia Salinaro (Domenic), all of Bristol.

She was the grandmother of Peter Michael, Jared Paul, Andrea Jane, Carl, Adam Domenic, and Wyatt Joseph.

She was also the great-grandmother of Danielle, Zachary, Kailey, Alexis, William, Evelina and Carl.

She was the great -great-grandmother of Aryia.

Also survived by several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Albert Crabtree and the late Alice Pacheco.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019, at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol, R.I.

Burial will be private.

Calling hours and flowers are omitted.

Gifts in her memory may be made to Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI, 02904.
