Barrington Middle School recently held Pasta Night — an event that raised money for the upcoming eighth grade overnight trip to Washington D.C.
The primary goal of Barrington Middle School Pasta Night was to bridge the $12,000 gap required to fund the trip. “This educational journey is an invaluable experience for students, offering them the opportunity to engage firsthand with the rich history and culture of the United States,” stated a recent press release.
Pasta Night drew a large crowd — diners were treated to pasta and meatballs, a fresh salad, drinks and dessert. The event was co-chaired by Jessica Liberatos, owner of The Beach House in Bristol, which provided all the food for the evening, and Neile Hartman.
“Dr. Anderson was thrilled by the success of the event and very proud of the eighth-graders who outdid themselves running an Italian restaurant for the night,” stated the release. “It was a true community event with parents, students, teachers, family and community members all coming together.”
Pasta Night also benefited from the support of a number of locally-owned businesses: Blount Fine Foods, Build-A-Bash, Cedar House Design Collective, Daisy Dig'ins, Fun City, Oral Surgery Services, and Sleepyheads Party.
Pasta Night raised more than $2,000 that will help close the fund-raising gap.
Movie night
The final fund-raising event to support the BMS DC Trip will be a movie night. It will be held in the BMS Auditorium on Friday, May 3. Doors open at 5:30 pm and the movie — the 2023 version of Willy Wonka starring actor Timothée Chalamet — starts at 6. All third-, fourth- and fifth-graders are invited to the screening.
Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door. Concessions will be available for purchase at the event.
Eighth-graders and parents will be on hand to run the event and ensure all guests are well taken care of but this is not intended for younger siblings who might require more hands-on babysitting.
