David Manuel Francis, 84, of Metacom Avenue passed away on Jan. 27, 2020, at Silver Creek. He was the husband of the late Genevieve (Marino) Francis.
A lifelong resident of Bristol, he was the son of the late John and Maria (Santo Pacheco) Francis. Mr. Francis attended Bristol schools and was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He was a heavy equipment operator and member of the Operating Engineers Local 57, working with various R.I. construction firms.
Mr. Francis and his wife were co-owners of Bay Towers Nursing Center in Providence, where he served as Superintendent of Buildings there for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959 and was a member of the both the Bristol and R.I. State Fraternal Order of Police.
Mr. Francis leaves behind his sons, David (Debra) Francis of Topsham, Maine, and Matthew (Lisa) Francis of Bristol, as well as many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of Mitchell, Jake and Zack Francis of Bristol, Tyler Francis of Warwick and step-granddaughter Jacqueline Nizer of Topsham, Maine. He was preceded in death by his son, John (Jay) Anthony Francis. He was the brother of Joseph Francis and Rita Crabtree, both of Bristol, and the late John Francis, Daniel Francis, Margo Craig, Veronica Tavares and Elizabeth Aguiar.
His funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 10:30 a.m. from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 141 State St. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
