A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Navy.  Prior to retirement, he worked as a manager for Sears and also as office manager at Doris J. Mathews Real Estate.  An avid New York Yankees fan, he also loved going to the beach and playing golf and poker.

Including his wife, survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Euga of New Bedford; two step-daughters, Susan F. Mathews of Westport and Lauren Walsh of Swansea; a cousin, Grace Monty of Dartmouth; along with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was the father of the late Daniel Teixeira and brother of the late Albert Teixeira and Mario Teixeira.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Hospice Team at Community Nurse Home Care for all of their care and compassion for Daniel.

Private arrangements under the direction of the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, will be held at the convenience of the family.
