The Bristol Garden Club will present ‘Daffodils Downtown’ from April 15 through the 29th. Bristol merchants will be showcasing daffodil-themed paintings by local artists in their windows, and several restaurants will be offering daffodil themed delights.

The event is part of the Garden Club’s efforts to celebrate the 30,000 blooms planted throughout town by the club members and dozens of volunteers since that 2020 launch of the Daffodil Project, an effort to eventually see 1,000,000 daffodil blooms throughout town.

Daffodils Downtown is also timed to showcase beautiful Bristol to visitors attending the American Daffodil Show. Hosted by Blithewold and the Bristol Garden Club, the program will feature an expansive range of unusual specimens and floral designs throughout the Mansion.

With a special youth challenge as well as American Daffodil Society awards, participants and the viewing public are sure to see an array of enticing and inspiring blooms not often seen. The show will run April 20-21 with special preview party on Friday, April 19 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Hors d’oevres from the Kitchen at Blithewold and signature cocktails will be offered; tickets, limited to 100 guests, are available at www.blithewold.org.

“We have been thrilled by the positive response we have received from all the downtown business owners we were able to contact,” said Gail Burmeister, President of the Bristol garden Club. “Everyone was extremely enthusiastic, creating special food and drink, putting our paintings in the windows — it’s not too late to participate!”
