EAST PROVIDENCE — The planned sale of commemorative bricks by the Friends of Townie Athletics booster organization on the grounds of the new East Providence High School has become the latest to be affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

FOTA secretary Stephanie Vinhateiro made notice late last week, the COVID-19 outbreak has forced the closure of the company the group has partnered with on the effort. Mrs. Vinhateiro said the company is not able to accept orders in the planned April timeframe.

The new anticipated start to the sale of the commemorative bricks, the first of which will be placed in the front courtyard of the new building, is now set for June.

“Due to COVID-19 and our ability to work with the brick company, we have to postpone the sale until mid-June. Fingers crossed that businesses will reopen by then. The brick company is setting up a website, printing all forms and providing us with all online sales opportunities,” Mrs. Vinhateiro said.
