Corvette C8 – A Spectacular Car, to Say the Least

Posted

Chevrolet’s latest muscle car, the Corvette C8 is sold out already, even though production hasn’t even started yet. Compared by many experts to Tesla’s Model S in terms of ingenious, innovative solutions, the new Chevy Corvette proves that the designers at Chevy are able to think out of the box without compromising any of the essential qualities of their model, adding the refinement that makes the new edition true to its name and exceed all expectations.

The eighth-generation Corvette, also called the Stingray, makes the most of technology and it is also Chevy’s first model in the mid-engine category, a car that comes with so much power, with so many great features and with such a great price-tag that it is likely to attract buyers who haven’t even thought of getting a sports car before. Here are a few highlights that make the new Corvette so special and the date when it hits the lots, sometime at the beginning of 2020, so anticipated.

Trim Levels and Options – Basic Details of the Corvette C8

The Corvette C8 will be offered in three trim levels: the 1LT, the 2LT and the 3LT, each of them available in coupe version as well as in convertible bodies that feature a folding hard top and with each trim including all the features of the previous one, plus some of its own. The trims are distinguished by the wide set of specific features, inside and outside – each trim offers a specific set of color options, interior details, but they all share the option of choosing from among three different suspension options and they all use the same, superb, eight-speed dual clutch transmission.

The C8’s engine, a 6.2-liter V8, capable of 490 HP and 470 lb-ft torque has been given a new location – now it is placed behind the passenger – and can be relied on to take the C8 from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. All models are rear-wheel driven.

The Corvette C8 Exterior – an Incredible Richness of Options

The buyer has a huge range of options available for configuring the perfect look. Besides the two body styles, the color choices offered with the C8 include 12 spectacular hues that range from flamboyant, such as shades of red and orange, to elegantly toned down, such as black, white and metallic. The coupe roofs and the convertible roofs are also available in many different colors, including body color and transparent. The C8 also comes with many wheels options, allowing the buyer to get the spoke style and color that best suits the overall appearance and buyers are offered the choice to choose the color of the brake calipers as well.

The C8 exterior can also be configured with the right accents – the door handles, the badge and all the other tiny details that matter come in a wide selection. The spectacular C8 engine can also be made visible from the outside through the rear hatch window, what’s more, buyers also have the option to choose LED lighting to illuminate the engine compartment.

Corvette C8 Cabin Features and Infotainment

The Stingray stands out in terms of interior quality, comfort and features as well. The entry trim features bucket seats and Chevy’s superb, 3 Plus System that features an 8-inch, HD color, diagonal touchscreen, a 12-inch driver information center (also in HD color), voice recognition, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability and audio streaming through Bluetooth. The 2LT trim adds navigation as standard – system that comes as standard on the highest trim as well. The 1LT comes with a 10-speaker, Premium audio from Bose, replaced by a 14-speaker, Performance Bose audio in the cabins of the highest trims.

All trims come with driver and passenger visors with mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless open and start, leather-wrapped steering wheel and power door locks. The higher trims are distinguished by the special leather upholstery and the other tiny, configurable details that can make all the difference and are available as optional.

Safety Features on the Corvette C8

A powerful car, like the Corvette C8, needs state-of-the-art safety features as well. The standard equipment for all models includes a complex airbag system, with protection in the front as well as on the sides and passenger sensing; active stability control and traction control as well as lots of drive assist features, such as rear parking assist, a Teen Driver system to encourage safer driving. Higher trims come with rear cross traffic alert, side blind zone alert, HD cameras in the front and in the rear and many others. All models come with disc brakes on all fours as well as ABS:

The Conclusion

The 2020 Corvette C8 is considered to be the Car of the Year by many experts and it surely deserves the title – it is not only a beautiful and powerful car, it is also safe and comfortable, all boxes checked.

The 2020 Corvette C8 will be available this spring at Cerrone GM in Attleboro, Mass.
