Another beautiful day for the CVS Health Charity Classic.
Another win by Billy Andrade, Keegan Bradley and Brooke Henderson.
Golf fans were treated to blue skies and warm temperatures at Monday's Classic, and they were also treated to an impressive front nine by the team of Andrade, Bradley and Henderson. The trio knocked in one birdie putt after another and finished the front nine holes 11 strokes under par.
Andrade, Bradley and Henderson played well on the back-nine, and finished the one-day tournament with a one-stroke win over the second place team of Kevin Kisner, Lexi Thompson and Darren Clarke.
The format for the CVS Health Charity Classic partners a player from the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour and Champions Tour on each team. The top two scores from each hole are counted for each team.
The win was also the fifth straight for Bradley, who had chalked up victories when the tournament used a different format. In addition, Bradley was also coming off a second place finish at the Traveler's Championship in Hartford, Conn. last weekend.
The CVS Health Charity Classic, which was created by Bristol native Billy Andrade and Barrington's Brad Faxon, is one of Rhode Island’s largest charitable events. It includes the golf tournament at Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington featuring some of the world's top professional golfers, and a two-day food and beverage festival.
Since its inception in 1999, the Charity Classic has donated more than $21 million for Southern New England nonprofit organizations. Each year the tournament assesses critical needs within the community and responds with targeted grants to organizations that provide vital services to many.
