The Barrington High School boys cross country team celebrated a strong showing at the Class B Championship on Saturday, led by Holden Vaughan's first place overall finish.

Holden ran with the lead pack from the start of the race and eventually pulled away. The Barrington High School junior crossed the finish nearly five seconds ahead of the second place runner, Classical High School's Cooper Michaud.

Vaughan, who clocked a time of 16:38.76 over the 3.1-mile course at Ponaganset High School, was one of three Barrington High School runners to finish in the top-20. Freshman runner Brandon Piedade was 16th overall with a time of 18:03.35, and junior Noah Buller was 18th with a time of 18:12.79.

Barrington coach Mike Katz said this was the first time since 2016 that the Eagles have had a Class champion.

"Holden, Brandon and Noah are also All-Class athletes," Coach Katz added.

The Eagles finished fifth as a team at the Class B Championship, scoring 117 points. Other Eagles to finish in the top-50 are sophomore Charlie Stockwell in 40th, senior Adam Copple in 44th, senior Jordan Freij in 47th, and junior Caleb Schultz in 50th.

Barrington High School is scheduled to compete in the RI State Championship meet on Saturday, back at Ponaganset High School.
