Bruce J. Trombley, 60, of Warren

Bruce J. Trombley, 60, of Warren, RI, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Hope Hospice, Providence. Born in Attleboro, Mass., he was the son of the late Oliver Leo Trombley and Florence (Ghys) Trombley Galarneau.

Mr. Trombley was a retired Emergency Medical Technician for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and in twenty years of service helped save hundreds of lives. At the time of his passing he had been the beloved custodian at the George Hail Library for seventeen years. He was a Communicant of St. Mary of the Bay Church in Warren. His intimates describe him as a warm and friendly person who could annoy, but who would give a stranger in need the shirt off of his back. His life was a miracle, and he will be sorely missed by those whose lives were brightened by his presence.

He is survived by a son, Derrik Trombley of Warren, R.I.; a daughter, Lauren Trombley of Warren, R.I.; two brothers, Michael Trombley of Frostproof, Fla.,, and Stephen Trombley of Rehoboth, Mass.; a sister, Naomi Daconceicao of Rehoboth, Mass.; an uncle, Joseph Paquin of Attleboro, Mass., and his step-father, Phillip Galarneau.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, in Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 10 a.m. in Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren. Burial will follow in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery, Vernon Street, Warren.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
